Red, White, and Blue

WOW! Half of the year is almost gone already! Maybe that is another reason we like to celebrate this time of the year, so we don't feel so bad about the passing of time. For the second year in a row, I am looking forward to the fourth of July with family getting together. Even though there will be one who will be greatly missed, we have family coming from the west coast joining us again. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!

So here is a CASE that I found on Pinterest. I don't know who the original belongs to, and I have made some of my own alterations, but if it was you, THANK YOU for sharing!

The base is Soft Suede, cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".
Whisper White mat: 5 1/4" x 4"
Soft Suede mad: 5" x 3 3/4"
Real Red, Whisper White, and Night of Navy strips: 4" x 1"

Using the stars die strip from the Treat Bag Thinlits, line it up in the center of each strip. The magnetic platform helps A LOT with this step. Save all the stars for another project, like a shaker card! Then I ran the strips through my crimper. You could also score every 1/8" or so and fan fold for a similar look, or just leave them flat. Use liquid glue, Tear and Tape, or glue dots to attach to the Soft Suede mat. Placing the white strip in the middle makes it easier to position the other two equally.

Wrap linen thread around the bottom, taping the ends onto the back. I criss-crossed it in the middle and added a drop of liquid glue where they met. The sentiment is actually from the April Paper Pumpkin  kit, stamped on Whisper White and attached with dimensionals.

Now stack all of the layers together. Add a Whisper White panel to the inside with another sentiment.

Hope that you enjoyed this as much as I have enjoyed sharing it with you. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Flourish!!

Okay, first, let me get this out there!!! I had to have the Flourish Bundle as soon as I saw it and couldn't wait to play with it! Unfortunately, I didn't pay much attention from that. So, in order to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake: The dies do NOT fit the stamps! And if I had paid attention, I would have noticed that there are no shadows on the stamp images which would indicate that a die matches. I do still LOVE the bundle and am NOT sorry I purchased it. Both the dies and the stamps will be well used!

So, now on with the project I created after realizing my mistake:

The card base is basic black. I cut the flourish from the front cover with the Flourish Framelits. I offset the cutout and used the glue pen to attach it after adding a Whisper White panel to the back. The sentiment is embossed with white from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set. REMEMBER: these are sold as a Bundle on page 49 and really do work great together!

This is the inside of the card where I placed two Whisper White mats, both 4"x 5 1/4". The left side has the flourish from the second card below, glued into place with the glue pen. The sentiment is stamped in black from the Suite Sayings stamp set.

Sooooo, before I realized the stamp doesn't match the die, I tried repositioning my die. So this is what I came up with instead :).   I folded the card base and sponged Craft White ink over the cut out, embossed Hello with white embossing powder and added a small bow. (Put a bit of the glue pen on the loops, so the knot could be positioned on the stems, which are cut out.)

With the cover closed, I used the white gel pen to draw "stitches" along the stems and leaves. Add pearls to the small round spots. Stamp two of the blooms from the Flourishing Phrases set onto Whisper White with black ink and cut them out. Add them to the inside with glue dots. (The picture looks like there is a pattern on the left side, but there isn't. It is just the cut out.) So when you close the card the blooms, stitching and pearls are all visible through the cover. The sentiment is again embossed with white from the Grateful Bunch stamp set.

NOTE:
Use the glue pen instead of the multi-purpose glue because the pen will dry clear and won't be sticky.

I even stamped the flourish onto a white envelope for both of these cards.

I hope that you have a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Gift of Love

I really love this new Host stamp set. And getting it free is even better!!!! Place a qualifying order and you can have it, too! Don't want to order that much at one time??? Ask your friends to order with you! :)

I also LOVE the new In Colors, especially the Peekaboo Peach! That is what I used for the base of this card, cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"

The silver paper is cut at 2 1/4" x 5 1/2" to mat a whisper white piece cut at 2"x 5 1/2". Adhere this to the card base.

Using VersaMark, stamp three images of the flowers onto Vellum cardstock and emboss with silver embossing powder. I used the blender pen to color onto the back of the images. This can be done with the refill ink or before opening the ink pad, squeeze in the center. This will create a small area of ink onto the lid which can then be used as a paint pallet. If you want a more vibrant color, you might prefer to color on the front of the images.

Now fussy cut around the images and position two of them on the white strip. Then cut up the third one to fill in areas for a fuller look. Use mini glue dots to place them permanently.

Add the sentiment onto Whisper White and dimensionals.

Cut a rectangle of Whisper White for your sentiment (or use your Banner Framelits). This one was a bit larger than my Banner Triple punch, but I still used it! I centered the piece into the punch, carefully pushing it up into the punch. I then used my Paper Trimmer to cut evenly from the corner to the tip on each side. Attach it to silver paper and cut around it with the Paper Snips or Trimmer to create a mat. Place on the inside of the card and you are done!

NOTE: Embossing Powder goes a long way, so if yours is a bit older like mine was, you might want to replace it for a fresh one. My old one (and I am talking years old!) started to leave specks of black when I embossed. This was also the case with my gold, so I replaced them, WOW! what a difference!

I hope you are having a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by!
