Blackberry Bliss Valentine

Red and/or pink are not the only colors that work for Valentine's cards, especially when you want to use someone's favorite color, as I have with this one. So try creating one with unexpected colors!

I used the BoHo Blossoms (119858) and Bird Builder (117191) punches, accented with Pearl Basic Jewels (119247). Cardstock used was Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla, along with Blackberry Bliss ink.

More traditional Valentine

 

Have you checked out Pinterest? There are SOOOOO many wonderful ideas there. If you want a specific stamp, just type it in the search and grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, cuz you can be there for awhile. Maybe I should place a warning of possible addiction here....... Anyway, this card is based on a similar one found on Pinterest.

 

 

The card base is Real Red with Whisper White as the mat. I placed the white in the embossing folder and embossed about two thirds of it, placing a piece of red ribbon across the end. I punched three hearts from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack (137779) in the Occasions catalog. The center heart is placed on dimensionals. Then add your sentiment. That is it!

 

 

I used several items that are retired, but you could use whatever you have available to create something similar. You could even create this same idea for other occasions by changing out the colors and/or embellishments. I am thinking St Patrick's Day using green and shamrocks.

Fun Valentine

 

 

The stamps are from the new Occasions catalog, called Sheltering Tree (137163)! I purchased the set because I really liked the tree and all the accessory items to use with it, including this ground cover stamp. I have actually used this stamp several times for the brush stroke look. If you want more of this effect, then you should check out the Work of Art set (134111-wood or 1341114-cling) in the annual catalog.

 

Now for the details: The card base is Naturals White, matted with Tempting Turquoise under the stamped images on Naturals White again. The sentiment is from the same set and stamped on with Momento Black ink. The brush strokes are stamped in Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Blackberry Bliss, Wisteria Wonder, Rose Red, and Pretty In Pink (retired). You could certainly use any combination on colors that you prefer. I made a couple of simple quilled hearts and added them with the Tombow Liquid Glue (110755)

 

That is it! So quick and easy. Just my kind of project.

Lace Valentine

 

Using Real Red makes this card so much more vibrant than it appears on this photo. It is all Real Red and Whisper White. The lacey floral background is the stamp, I Love Lace (134033 wood or 134036 cling). It is then mounted on Real Red cardstock, wrapping Whisper White ribbon, layered with Real Red ribbon, then mounted to a Whisper White base card. I then adhered a paper doily to the center of the card, added dimensionals (104430) to the back of my focal point (retired) and small Pearl Basic Jewels (119247) before adding it to the card.

 

NOTE:

When stamping a large background stamp, ink up the stamp, lie your cardstock carefully on to the inked stamp, top with scrap paper (or I use paper towel) and run the Brayer (102395) back and forth over the stack. Carefully lift the paper, then the cardstock for a great image!

Sheltering Tree Christmas

OK, so you know we are going to need these again in a few months, right????

(and it is snowing)

Before the holidays, I saw several samples using the brush stroke from the Work of Art stamp set (134111-wood mount or 134114-clear mount) to create trees. I didn't have that set, so passed on creating one, even though I really liked them.

Then the Occasions catalog came out with the Sheltering Tree set (137163). This was one of the first sets that I placed on my order! And when it arrived, I knew that I wanted to use the brush stroke (think it was actually designed to be ground cover, but.....) to create my own version of a simple one layer Christmas Tree card, so here it is. I inked it up with Old Olive and created my partial tree. When I had each branch stamped, I stamped off my stamp between each branch, giving a lighter impression. The trunk is from the tree in the set, inked with Sahara Sand, and a star inked with Daffodil Delight to top it off. I then dug out my retired Mingle All the Way stamp set, and stamped the sentiment with Cherry Cobbler.  It looked pretty plain, so colored in the leaves with the Old Olive marker and added Pearl Basic Jewels (119247) for the berries.

Did you know that you can color the rhinestones and pearls with your blendabilites? They dry quickly and you can coordinate them with any of your color combos.

My Art

This idea came from a card I saw on Pinterest. The card base is Pool Party and the design is on Whisper White (5"x 3 3/4"), matted with Island Indigo (5 1/8"x 3 7/8"). From the stamp set Sheltering Tree (#137163 from the new Occasions catalog), I stamped double images of the brush stroke with Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, and Island Indigo inks. The "spots" and sentiment are from the same stamp set with Island Indigo ink. I then added one of the small Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246) to each set of "spots" to add a little bling.

This is a quick and simple card that would work for any occasion, just by changing the sentiment. And, of course, you could use any color combination, too.

Cup of Tea card/gift

This card was created with a piece of cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 4 1/2" and 9".  This forms a pocket (as shown in the photo below) to hold a tea bag, drink mix such as apple cider, or even a gift card. Add small strip of adhesive on each side to anchor the pocket.

I used Blackberry Bliss cardstock for the base and paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack ( #133701 ). The stamp set is Tea Party. I used markers to add color to the images and Rhinestones Basic Jewels ( # 119246 ) for a bit of bling. I also added half of one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies ( # 129399 ).
