Quilted Christmas

First, let me wish you all Happy Holidays!!!

Any of your quilt blocks can be adapted to paper! I used one inch squares to create these quilt block cards. Instead of gluing each one on, I used the sticky paper. It was less messy and I didn't have to wait for it to dry. I used a black marker to make the quilted stitches, too.

In the column to the right you will see the double ring card that I made for my kids anniversary, too.

Don't quilt? That's okay. Now you can do it with paper!!!

Hope you give this a try. If you know a quilter or someone who just loves homemade quilts, these would make great cards for them! They can be adapted to any occasion. Just change the papers and sentiments.

Rosey Christmas

Guess I shouldn't have vented the last time, cuz I am having a lot of fun issues now. So please don't give up on me. Plus this is a busy time of the year and I don't post as often as I should. I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful holiday season!

I created this one for my folks and hand delivered it. The card base is created on the fold, using the top note die. The roses were premade ones that I had on hand and the poinsettia is die cut and layered on the shaped die, then I lined each petal with gold stickles. I also added it to the roses, sentiment and rhinestones.

Acetate Christmas

Venting!: I would think that good (notice, I didn't even say great) and affordable internet would be available anywhere in the country by now!!! Okay, now that that has been voiced on to the fun stuff!

I really like the look of this technique. I used a silver card base with a white mat. In the center of this mat I stamped the sentiment. Cut a piece of acetate with it being at least 1/2"larger to fold over and attach to the back of the card ( I found out that the lighter weight works better, even though the cardstock weight worked okay ). Crease the 1/2" and run the acetate through an embossing folder, then attach with sticky strip on the 1/2" to the back of the card. I attached snowflake cut outs to the top of this with glue dots and used small glue dots under the two larger ones to hold down the acetate to the front of the card. (This step may not be needed with the lighter weight acetate.)

You can stamp snowflakes on the white cardstock to show through, also.

Mini Milk Carton

The carton on the right was created with the retired SU milk carton die. The one on the left was created with a 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of cardstock, scored at 1", 2", 3", and 4". Turn and score at
1", 2 1/2", 3 1/4".

Cut the bottom 1/4" tab off, and make angle cuts to form the bottom flaps.

Add sticky strip to the remaining 1/4" tab, crease the scores and form the carton.

Add sticky tape to the bottom tabs and close.

For Scallop Band: 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" cardstock or DSP
Punch both long sides with decorative punch and attach to the carton.

Center DSP Band: 3/4" x 4 1/4"  Add around the carton on top of scallop band.

I hope you enjoy this project. It will hold a small gift, such as jewelry or a couple of Hershey's Kisses. I closed mine with a small binder clip, but you could seal it with sticky strip.

Snowman Soup

Created the mug as described in an earlier post, then added the hot cocoa mix, candy cane, chocolate kisses, and mini marshmallows to the inside. I cut thin strips of cardstock and curled them with my bone folder for the nest. Wrapped it all up in a plastic bag and added the Snowman Soup Poem:

 

Snowman Soup

 

When it's so cold that

you holler and whoop,

It's time to bring out

the Snowman Soup!

 

Pour the packet in a mug

Add the snowballs, too.

And throw in the kisses

From the snowman to you.

 

Now add some hot water

and use the cane to stir it

Sip slowly and soon you'll

feel the warm winter spirit!

 

I have also created this by decorating one of the smaller Pringle canisters and adding the goodies.

Pickup Kisses

I am making these for a craft fair. Brenda has a great tutorial here and I tweaked it a bit to create the pickup truck. After all I am in truck country! Someone in my family wants a pickup, think he may receive one from me! :)

 I just attached the cab a bit closer to the front of the body, then created the box/bed of the pickup with a 2" square of cardstock, scored all around at 1/2". Clip the tabs and form the box. Then attach the box to the back of the "cab". I also cut one of the windshield pieces in half for the back window.

Diarama Christmas

I haven't made one of these cards is a long time. I like the fact that it is a three dimensional and yet folds flat to mail, without a lot of bulk.

I took this one a step farther by creating it on the cover of a card, so that I could actually put a sentiment and signature on the inside.
