Another Fall Challenge

I have decided to try another challenge. Normally I am a "case" (copy and share everything) type of person, finding something I like and putting my own twist to it, sometimes not. These challenges help me come up with my own, which is a lot of fun, too.

The weather is cool again this morning, so guess I am still in the "fall" mode. This challenge is for the Paper Players and their information can be found here. And here is my entry:

Had trouble with the lighting  this morning so the picture seems to be a bit muted. Anyway, I pulled out some retired fall DSP and greeting stamp for this project. The instructions for how I created the pumpkin are in my previous post. I used Tempting Turquoise as the card base and for matting the sentiment, matted with my DSP and stamped the greeting on Pumpkin Pie cardstock (also used this for the pumpkin). The leaves were punched out with the Build a Bird punch and Always Artichoke cardstock. Very simple card to create, so hope you give it a try. Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!!

Fall challenge

It is a little cool this morning, making me think that fall isn't too far off. So I decided to create a card for the season using a challenge from SUO as details. The challenge is clean and simple (CAS) and you can check out the details here. Here is what I came up with:

The base of the card is 4" x 11", scored at 4 1/2" and at 9". This forms a pocket on the inside for a cider/hot cocoa packet or gift card. I used Old Olive cardstock, then a mounted piece of Cajun Craze run through the woodgrain embossing folder (4 1/4" x 3 3/4"). I used the woodgrain background stamp with Cajun Craze ink on So Saffron cardstock (4"x 3 1/2"). I have sponged with Cajun Craze ink around the base card and the mats.

The pumpkin in created with a circle die (size wanted for the front of your card), then one of the oval dies that are a bit smaller than the height of your circle. (I chose mine by measuring it so the top of the oval would fit to the top of the side of the circle, where I would be placing it first.) Die cut three of the ovals and sponge around each one with Always Artichoke ink, then tape one to each side of your circle, in just a bit from the edge. Now trim the circle around the ovals in the center to create the pumpkin top and bottom. Add the last oval to the center. Attach leaves from the Build a Bird punch in Always Artichoke cardstock and place this on the card.

Sponge the largest butterfly cut from the Beautiful Wings embosslit with Always Artichoke ink. Stamp your sentiment (I used one from Teeny Tiny Wishes) and punch out (I used the window punch and punched the rounded side close to the ends).

I hope you enjoyed your visit and thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know if you have any questions!

Halloween minis

Even though I was fighting some kind of nasty bug this weekend, these ideas kept floating around in my head. So by bringing a few things to my recliner and working on them a little at a time, here are the results! All were created with the 4 oz mini cups and lids.

My mummy was the first one I created, just tore strips of Naturals White card stock and wrapped them around the cup with smaller strips around the lid. Topped it off with a cut out circle (think I will tear it, too, the next time) and added google eyes, pushing them up under one of the strips a bit.

Frankenstein is more cute than scary, but that is okay with me! I used olive green cardstock to wrap around the cup, using the edge of the table to curl the piece first. I cut out a piece of black, long enough to wrap around the lid, curled it with my bonefolder, cut out the notched hair, then made slits about every 1/4" or so on the top edge to ease onto the lid with sticky strip. Punched out the circle for the top, added google eyes and drew on the mouth with an Always Artichoke marker. (Think I will use black on the next ones.) For the nose and "bolts", I cut a square from the dimensionals, double layered them, colored around the edges with Always Artichoke maker, added a punched square of the same color card stock and done!

My Jack-O-Lantern was actually the first one I was trying to figure out it my head. I cut out enough ovals (just slightly larger than the height of the cup), with Tangerine Tango cardstock, and sponged around each piece with Old Olive ink then curved them with my bone folder. I also trimmed a small amount off the top so they would fit under the rim of the cup, then started on the back, overlapping them on each side, placing one in the center of the front. I then trimmed around the bottom of the ovals to line up with the bottom of the cup, cut out the face pieces and glued them on, took my Old Olive marker brush tip and drew around the oval, using the writer tip to trace around the other ovals. I put a small strip of the Tangerine Tango around the lid plus a circle on the top, punching out leaves from Old Olive card stock with the Build a Bird punch to glue around the top. The curls are small strips of card stock, curled with the bone folder til the card stock begins to come apart. Peel it apart, cut into small strips, add a bit of glue around the circle top and smoosh the curls into the glue. (very technical, you know :) )

Hope you enjoyed your visit! I appreciate you stopping by! Have a great day!

Stocking mini cup

These are really a lot of fun to create. If you missed my previous post for the instructions, it is here

For this one I used the retired stocking die. The holder is the same, except that I cut down the back so that it is a box with all four sides equal, then glued it to the stocking.

Hope you are having a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

Remember When.....

We don't have the big carnivals like we used to, but I remember them with a smile. This card was created with a retired SAB set, but you could use the current Traveler stamp set, too.

I used the following products to create this card:

Mini brads
Woodgrain embossing folder
Early Espresso and Very Vanilla cardstock
Early Espresso ink

Very, very, simple, just stamp and layer. The smaller pieces were actually torn rather than cut and the woodgrain panel was "roughed up " around the edges with the distress tool.

Hope you are having a wonderful day, and thank you so much for stopping by!

August My Paper Pumpkin

Have you signed up for My Paper Pumpkin yet??? There is still time to get in on the great promotion! If you are a new subscriber, sign up right here and use the promo code HALFOFF2 to receive your first two monthly kits at 50% off. Your first kit will arrive in September. HERE is a sneak peek of that kit.

Here are a few samples of what I created with some of the August kit:

The school colors are black and orange. The cut out is from the kit and stamped with pumpkin pie card stock behind the cut out and all mounted on to a black base card.

I created a shaker card with the sequins that were in the kit, also the cut out, stamp, and base card. The cut out is matted on a piece of Strawberry Slush card stock.

Using Strawberry Slush as the card base. I attached some of the striped cardstock behind the cut out, both from the kit, then added a button with a bow tied on it with linen thread, also part of the kit.

I used the striped card base in the kit along with the cut out and stamp. The cut out piece I sponged with Always Artichoke ink and matted it on Always Artichoke card stock, with a window cut out so that the base card showed through for the Thanks.

This cute treat bag was created with two of the smaller envelopes in the kit. I cut the sides off with the sticky tape and put it together to form the bag, attaching the bottom with the ends that already had the sticky strips. The linen thread, tag, ink spot, and stamp are all included in with the kit.

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Mini cup and holder

Some days, one just has to share more than one idea! This is one of those days, so hope you don't mind! I think these are sooooo cute and plan to make several for gifts!

The cups and lids can be purchased HERE, And you can find a template to download for the cup HERE. Just scroll down to the bottom of the post. For the lid, I just trimmed the band down to 1/4". I used sticky strip on the cup piece and glue on the band to make it permanent, but still be able to position it as I go. the lid is cut from the third smallest circle framelit. I decorated it with punches and used retired stamps and DSP on this project.

Here are the instructions for my single cup holder:

Cardstock: 8" x 7 1/4" (decorated as desired with stamps or DSP)

With 7 1/4" side to the top of score board, score @ 1/4", 2 ½" , 4 3/4", 7"

With 8" side to the top of the score board, score @ 4 ½" and 6 3/4"

Cut away pieces to create this shape: (Only the center block is left on the top,

which will create the back to the tote.)

The middle side flaps need to be cut down to 1 1/4" and tapered on the sides. These will add stability to the holder.

Crease all folds and attach sticky tape to the 1/4" tabs. Fold this around the side flap and attach to the inside of the back. (You may need/want to glue the inside flaps to the outside, depending on the size of your tapered cuts, which can make them loose.)

Create a mask using a post it note and your choice of punch. I used the large oval on this sample. Lie the mask on the back panel and punch for the handle.

If you have any questions, just let me know. Happy Creating!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Photopolymer Stamp Storage

Connie Stewart shares a great video on her blog about how to store these stamps, which I have been doing except for one thing. She show to place the printed window sheet in the storage case sleeve and the stamps on top of it.

The print is actually backwards and I don't like trying to figure out what I am looking at, so I turned it around so that I can see exactly what the stamp is. I then place the stamp just above the print. It is a snug fit, but does work so that I can see the print clearly.

Here is another view of the bottom set:

The plastic sheet is attached to the cover cardstock with just a couple of glue dots to hold it in place. These are stamps are from My Paper Pumpkin Kits, which I purchased a clear stamp case to store them.

Hope you find this tip useful. Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Sentimental Bicycle

The bicycle stamp is from a retired Sale-a-bration set, but wouldn't one of the stamps from Timeless Talk work great? There is even a similar bike in that set. The sentiment is a stamp from My Paper Pumpkin. (You really need to sign up for these monthly kits! They are awesome!!! and half off your first two kits til Sept. 10! Just use HALFOFF2 in the promo code box. Click on the My Paper Pumpkin box in the right hand column to sign up.)

I have also used the Woodgrain background stamp (love, love, love this one!) and That's the Ticket stamps. I used Early Espresso cardstock and ink as well as Very Vanilla cardstock and Very Vanilla ribbon (see it toward the left side of the circle). If you look close there is a large brad just below the tickets. Don't ask me why, just thought it needed something and that is what I chose. It worked for me :) . I did sponge around each piece, too, including the ribbon.

The bicycle is stamped off the edge of the circle of cardstock. My granddaughter thought I messed up, but informed me that it was okay, cuz we all do that sometimes :). Not sure she agreed when I told her that I was going to use it that way on my card.

I hope you get a chance to be creative today and thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know what you think of this and/or my blog. Have a great day!!!

Calypso Coral Perfect Blend

This sample uses so many of my favorite products!

      Perfect Blend Stamp Set
      Calypso Coral Cardstock
      Fancy Fan Embossing Folder
Calypso Coral Ribbon (this one is retired but there are others in the current catalog)
      Circle Framelits
      Boho Blossoms Punch
      Pearl Basic Jewels
      Naturals White Cardstock
      Pink Pirouette Cardstock (base card)
Calypso Coral Classic Ink Pad (sponged ink around each piece)
      Early Espresso Classic Ink Pad

I layered the pieces on the coffee cups, restamping the lid and sleeve on Naturals White and cutting them out. I also added dimensionals to the lids to give them a bit more depth. Tying a simple bow in the ribbon worked better than I bow, I thought.

Hope you enjoy this sample and take time to create today. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Another Stippled Blossom

Did you know that stamping can teach you something about yourself? I have learned that I tend to prefer nature's beauty with most of my card making, whether it is flowers or leaves or snowflakes. I find I go to this stamp set quite often, especially when I want something simple and special.

Both flower sets were stamped on whisper white, then cut out. The top flower was lifted with dimensionals. The dotted borders are actually our ribbon border punch with only half of it showing. I taped them to the back of a plain piece of whisper white card stock and attached it to the embossed card mat (Fancy Fan folder). And, of course, it had to have a little bling, so the flower centers were dotted with Dazzling Details.

You could add any sentiment to this card and it would be perfect. I find myself needing more thank you cards and love creating them for the thoughtfulness that I appreciate in so many people.

Ooooooo, wouldn't this be great in traditional colors for Christmas?????? Off to give it a try! LOL

Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by!
